Which is the best way to have a page layout with shadow such as this:

http://www.ibm.com/us/en/

I mean.. a easy cross-browser solution.

The height of the website is going to change dynamically (ajax).

I think you need to be more specified, we can't answer how to do a whole website.. What exactly are you wondering?

I'm interested about the background.
I would like to fit my page in that vertical sheet with shadows on both sides.
They didn't just use a background for this.

If it is not clear, I can explain again.

Well the shadow is an image put into the css the code is

li.ibm-first{background-image:none;padding-left:19px;}#ibm-metrics{background:url(//www.ibm.com/i/v16/t/template-bottom-930.gif) no-repeat 50% 0;margin:0;padding:0;height:15px;}

Same with the right and left shadow. Then the background color is just

{background:#CCC;color:#000

Dosen't look to hard but that is how they did it.
