Some Photoshop CS3 RGB colors not matching web colors

Hi,

I'm having trouble with some photoshop RGB colors. For example, #003366 looks the same in Photoshop as it does on a web page where I've used this color. But some other colors, for example: #182C3F does not look at all like it does on a web page - it looks far more green.

I have my Image-Mode as RGB color, and the Color Settings sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I'm not sure what else I would need to change.

I'm using Photoshop in this case to create a website mockup, so getting the colors right is pretty important!

Any ideas?

How are you applying these colours to the site, and what browser are you using to view the site in. In reality it is impossible to match the colour exactly. All you can really do is design the site how you want it in photoshop and then transfer it over as is.

If you are transfering colour codes straight into the HTML /CSS you are at the mercy of the browser the user is viewing your site on.
If you export the images first, you are still at the mercy of the browser but now you have to take into account issues with file types like alpha issues in .png files.
.bmp is great quality but huge file size. Jpg isn't awful but still not the greatest for load times and .gif, is a little weird itself.

I find Safari darkens the colours while Firefox does a relatively good job keeping them the same.


There are far too many factors to be worried about getting it exactly right.

Thanks for your response. I figured out that the issue was I had "only web colours" selected in my color picker. Even if I picked a swatch with the correct colour, this setting was really changing the look of the colour. Thanks again for your help.
