Dude, the reason why there weren't much malware spreeding through it is because of not much people targeting it...
Nowadays, you can go to milw0rm and get shellcodes, kernel level exploits that grant you control, and for some weird reason, there's even one that claims to corrupt the EFI.. Dunno how, though... I just knew that, for example, in Linux, the nvram module can be used to blank some BIOS passwords, but, screw the whole EFI down? I dunno how that's supposed to work...
Apple hardware is good, no doubt, but OSX is choppy in my opinion...
