Rounded Rectangle Tool and Merging Layers Problem

Postby Jolly Wolf on Wed Apr 29, 2009 5:04 am

I'm following a tutorial on creating a film roll effect in Photoshop. I'm stuck because Photoshop won't allow me to merge my copied shape layers down into the original layer.

I used the Rounded Rectangle Tool to create a small shape. Renamed the shape layer to "film roll hole." Used transform selection to rotate the rectangle in the direction I wanted. Duplicated the shape layer is not a problem, but it will not allow me to merge the copied layer into the original.

This is the tutorial I'm working on, and it's step 11 that I'm stuck on:

Hope someone can help. Thanks!!

Hi JW,

To merge all your copied layers, you need all of them selected before using Cntl+E

Either hold the shift key down as you select each layer or select the top one and while holding the shift key, select the bottom one (that should select all the layers in-between.

Hope this is helpful.
