Installed fonts won't display in Microsoft Office.

Hey there.

Some of the fonts which I've downloaded from various font sites and installed by copying them to the fonts folder in control panel, won't show up when I select them in the dropdown menu. They all do appear in this list, but when I select a bit of text and try to change over to one of these troublesome fonts, nothing just happens and it keeps on displaying the text in the formerly used font.

An example is one of the fonts, named "KodchiangUPC". I tried it in notepad, works fine, and does also display the characters when I just open it with fontview.exe


What could be my problem? Is there any kind of fix which could correct this?

Not sure that this is the answer.

You get many different Font Files, such as True Type, Open Type etc.. now I am not sure which of these word is compatible with.

Go back to your control panel and see if the font that is not working, is of a different file, from the ones that are working.

The other thing you could do is find another site to download it from, to see if was a corrupt copy.

Hi there.

Word is compatible with both these types. I've found out that it's specifically the UPC fonts that won't display. Maybe because they are "protected" somewhat? The wiki page about universal product code somehow seem to suggest as such.
