Question: What video format does PhotoshopCS4 "accept?"

Postby Rico on Tue Jul 14, 2009 1:57 am

Hey guys,

I just installed PhotoshopCS4, and I'm having a difficult time importing my video file into PS. What does my video have to be converted to? I tried MPEG1 etc, but it still doesn't work! I have used Total Video Converter to convert the video but still no luck.

Hi

Photoshop is a single frame image editing software, although you can create animations with it, these have to be put together as individual frames then saved as a .gif.

For video editing, you want Adobe Premiere Pro, this is a very powerful tool and is part of the Adobe Master Collection.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me more.

Hi again

Once you have created your animation, you want to:- File > Save for Web & Devices, then hit the preview button, hopefully you should be able to preview your animation. Now save as a GIF.

I hope this helps.

I didn't mean to be rude but:

The file works in photoshop now, but it only shows 1 freaking frame. I want the whole video to work in photoshop, I wanna make a video avatar gif file.

Hi

You can Edit > Import Video Frames to Layers. I believe they have to be MOV AVI MPG MPEG.

Then you can use the individual layers to make a gif animation.

Good luck.
