I think there may be too many forums.

If you categorised the forums more, you may be able to cut down on how many you have. It's nice that you have many options to choose from but having a cluttered list isn't too appealing.

I visit 4 forums every day to cover all the things I want to read about. Thats why I started DEVPPL a forum with all categories I need, and hopefully what all people need. Thats what makes this forum worth joining. If I just had some sections, It would be like every other forums on the net.

But, categorize... I have tried to make it as small as possible using sub-forums. I could change so you only will have the sections visible (devppl.com, for webmasters, graphics, programming) but I think that would be annoying to click 2 times and wait for 2 sites to load instead of one just to get to the forum you want.

So removing forums is not an option, but If you have any other idea, tell me about it.

I was thinking supply and demand. While the forums aren't that big, cut down on a few that aren't being used.
Then when more users come along, add them back in as demand for more forums may arise.

But what if a user comes to the forum to ask about a certain "thing" but the forum isnt there because no one was using it, then that person doesnt realy have any use for the forum so (s)he wont stay.

lil9 is right. For a lot of people there just might be too many forums. It's not like I would ever visit a Java forum or something, but somebody else might. So these forums should all stay, regardless of what just one person needs.

I think Mr.R. did a good job on creating this many forums. It probably took him quite a lot of time to think about all of these.

Exactly what I think too, you never know when a new forum will be active, for exaple today a user started a post in the Search Engine Optimization forum, (s)he whouldn't do that if the forum wasen't visible, and maybe some more users will find it interesting with a SEO forum and join DEVPPL because of that.

At this moment, we need all members and all post we can get. For example, if we only had the Photoshop forum, we would maybe only have 20 members, now we have over 100.

Like they say " the more the merrier ". Having threads not being used yet does not hurt anyone.

The other way around... threads kick peoples asses because they feel obsolete? õ_o
