Photoshop miracle needed!

Postby lara123 on Sat Aug 08, 2009 10:13 am

Hey there photoshop genius's, or genii, whatever works

I am in desperate need of replicating silver digitally, i've tinkered with photoshop a fair bit, but this material is notoriously difficult to replicate. I am not good enough in Maya/3d studio max for rendering,, but was hoping someone could give me a hand?? Nothing on the web atm I can see to help, anyone, please!!!!

Thankyou

Hi

What are you trying to replicate exactly?

Hey,

Thanks for replying! I am (trying to) replicate wooden bracelets, and detailing them with sterling silver( such as clasps and hinges, and a little extra). I need really schmick images so as not to take away from the design, and a realistic representation, I can model in CAiD but rendering...hopeless, so I thought photoshop could save me?? maybe? Hope you can shed some light!

Hi

There are some good tutorials for chrome look, not sure if it is any good for what you are looking for.

Or are you asking for someone to create this for you?

Have you tried layer styles?
There's some excellent ones online.
Here's just one you can download and try.

Hi CovertPea

Already done this, but thankyou! i've basically covered all bases and then found this amazing rendering...but it costs 40 bucks

here it is: http://www.exchange3d.com/cubecart/huma ... _9456.html

...should I buy it??? It is very good, couldn't find anything as convincing, I could just apply the material and lighting to my own model..

You don't need to pay for this effect, but the information in that posts would help you create it yourself. It says that its was rendered using mentalray, so a quick google search for "mentalray silver" returns almost identical effects...example: http://www.mentalmaya.com/2008/08/metal-chrome.html

This is a chrome material using vray, it should not be to different from what you are looking for.

Open image in new window to view.

When rendering reflective objects it is very important to get the lighting and environment correct.

I hope this helps.
