idea on how to replicate a background pattern??

Postby djtonic on Tue Sep 08, 2009 4:02 pm

Hi,
I need to try to reproduce The background on the image i uploaded(green swirly background) and I have been trying to make it look the same but have had no luck. at the bottom where the gradient ends is the best view of the background
Any ideas? i posted this in the off-topic thread too but that was the wrong place :)

Thanks for your help
Tim.

It looks to me as though a green background was used with Noise added then Filter>Distort> Polar Coordinates was used on several layers"polar to rectang" At least I think could that help?

hi,
hopefully someone better comes along to reply but I think the way they
did that was use a circle brush and then they used the
liquidfy tool to distort the circle the way they wanted...

probably from that you could also make a new brush to give you
that effect with out re inventing the wheel ..

Hey thanks guys,
I have been trying some different brushes but havent been able to really get it right...go figure the one element a client really wants on his website is that exact background :p

I just noticed it kind of looks like wood knots, maybe I'll try to find some texture online and just play with the hues and level it and tweak it a bit.

hi,
I don't think a knot brush will give you that same effect .. the more i look at it the more i think they just creat a layer
and put a lot cocnetric circles,,, then used the liquidfy tool to just ditor the heck out of it me...
there several places on the net has circle brushes or make your own...

Sort of reminds me of tight topography lines.
Did you get the original pic off a website? Perhaps you could ask the owner for ideas?

I was still thinking over this problem of yours and 'fingerprints' came to me.
Take a look at this texture (unsure if it's tileable) here:
