My CS3 has become unstable.

Postby jimmyp on Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:25 pm

My CS3 has become unstable. In the middle of editing a photo I get a "Adobe Photoshop CS3 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." And a message to send the info to Microsoft. And PS shuts down.

Details of the report:
AppName: photoshop.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.0 ModName: msvcr80.dll
ModVer: 8.0.50727.3053 Offset: 00008aa0

It happens numerous times while I am editing the same file.

Has this happened to others? And what could be the cause?

The computer is a PC running XP and it has 4 gig of memory.

I have 4 g's memory as well and believe it or not, some times that's not enough. I like to have music playing while in ps and other programs but I have seen similar and I fix it by quitting out of some extra programs, not needed at the moment.I'm not saying that's the problem, but it couldn't hurt trying it, if you have other programs running

hi,
my reply is similar.. you didn't mention in general if any other issues with the system such as similar problems, sluggishness, etc..... there all clues...

my reply is going to be similar to idad... and that is clean uup your system for starters....

1. purge that interent cache and DEFRAG.... a hard drive that too fragmented can cause all sort of issues.... plus your programs are more stable and a little faster...

2. programs that startup at boot up... is major cause of system inststability...
a. they use valuable ram
b. they slow the the system down
c. they conflict with other programs causing instabililty...

3. of course always do a full virus and antispyware scan...... malware can sneak in without you knowing and cause all sort of miischief.... smiling....

now there can be other reasons... but those would be the first things I would address....
