Cuttig issues

Postby arquimenez on Tue Oct 06, 2009 3:12 pm

i`m new in ps, and i really need a hand here... i want to erase just one color of my picture, without using magic eraser tool, maybe some other tool, the idea it's too make visible some stuff behind the first picture, like parts of a house beeing seeing throu spaces between some tree's leaves? do i explain myself fine? i just can't make that effect work!

select the area you want to see thru, copy it and delete the selection, then make a new layer with the copy. change the opacity or fill to a transparent level (depending on image) I find it is fairly a good setting at about 74% on the fill level. then merge the two layers, your selected are will be transparent

hi,
probably would help if we could see the image.. because many time the best way is dependent on the image...

now i always work with a duplicate layer.....
a lot of different ways to select and mask off....

many times i'll use a variation of channel masking....to copy or cut a area.. here a tutorial on it... there many ....
http://www.phong.com/tutorials/mask.tree/

now you could use the magic want to select the areas you want.... and that works good sometimes.... what i sometimes use.. especialy with hair and trees and such... is channel masking ...
