This is actually a good pic, but I don't know how to fix the ligthing on the figure

hi,
there a couple of ways you can go about it.. now on my monitor
the wall and person way too dark.... and the left side of the building was a
little too dark..

what yo can do is first do either shadow and hiligh adjustment

that helps a lot but then do a selection of the person to fine tune the brightness and color
and again yo can use either the shadow and highlight or a curve adjustment...

did a before and after... slooppy on the person selection but you get the idea.. used shadows and hilights and curves on him
and curves on just the sky

I thought the streets looked too white washed so I played with the brightness/contrast and hues a bit. Also, brightened you up a little. the masking around you is a little sloppy sorry, i'll make it better if i get a chance.

JerryB I didnt even notice the sky. Nice touch!

all i did was quick select him>copy and paste selection to create a new layer. Played with curves and bright/contrast then adjusted opacity of new layer to blend
Same exact thing on the roadway.
as you can see, my attention to detail for this was off but you get the idea.

one more quick thing. Jerry b sees the left side of the building too dark but i see the right side as too light! Monitor differences or taste differences? Funny.

I tried using curves first.. generally that my first step.. but it didn't do much for the shadows that when
i decided to go with shadows and hilights.... it much easier to really lighten up those dark areas...


right now bee playing around with this one plugin i have call redynamix... it for simularting hdr...
it real nice... in fact i really didn't have to do anyting and it automaticaltook care of the shadows and and brighten up the colors.....
and the roadway came in much clearer and see more details.... .... and sort of a richer colorful feeling to it......
that plugin has been one of my best investments...lol ... and not only good but it was cheap...lol

i know my monitor tends to be on the dark side alittle....... and it makes those shadows a little more darker than maybe on a
fully calibrated monitor..... but i take that into consideration when i do my retouch stuff.. smiling...
but like yo said sometimes it a matter of taste and objective

a plug in would be nice. I don't have any photoshop filters beyond stock. I'll look into that one you mentioned.
