HTML Background Problem

HTML Background Problem

Postby webmaster on Wed Nov 04, 2009 6:06 pm

Dear members, I need your help! I think this is the first question I ask in the forums =)

I'm currently making a new version of DEVPPL, but I'm having some problems with the background. The site will be based on the forum engine phpBB.

To spot the problem, you will first have to go to the User Control Panel, then click on Board preferences and then set "My board style" to "DEV_Beta" and click Submit.

To the problem:
In topics that are long so you have to scroll a lot, the background suddenly stops, here's an example:
request-a-signature-vt2120.html

I'm sure it's some basic thing that I've forgot, but it's driving me crazy that I can't figure out what it is.

What's wrong?
(the code is still a bit messy, and there are lots of different CSS-files where the error could be)

I'm using FireFox 3.5.4

Well I see you've set the background to 3000px, and if you get rid of that you only have a tiny bit of the background. I think the problem is that all your columns are floating so the background is covering the main page, but doesn't include the floated divs. The way round this is to include <br style="clear: both" /> or something along those lines. I tried to add this after your floated columns, but it just messed up the whole page. Also when I copied the code into a syntax highlighting text editor it couldn't find the end of some of the main divs, so I think one of the problems is you are missing a few </div>'s somewhere but I have yet to find out where.

Ill keep on looking,

In what file do you see the 3000 px height, I can't find it.

Edit: Can't find any unclosed DIVs on those pages either, can you give me a hint please?

The problem was that I had forgot to set the height of both the body and html-tags to 100%
