Layer Style noise disapearing on merge

This is my 1st post on this forum so hello to everyone!

The problem I'm having is with Layer Styles noise. I like to work on highly textured looking documents and often find myself adding noise to simulate this. I don't have any problems with the regular add noise filters from the filter gallery. The problem occurs when I add noise through something like Inner Shadow. Whilst working on the Photoshop document everything seems fine until I try and merge any of the effect or export the image to every format I've tried. Essentially all the noise is lost from the Layer Style levels. I've attached two screen grabs of the two states. One with noise and the other after merging the layer. There you can see the image has become much smoother. This isn't what I want. I want to retain the noise within the Layer Style effects.

Can anyone help with this please?

Looks like you may have a slight blur effect going on when you merge or layer is in overlay mode perhaps? very small images to really see

Hey.

I'm not adding a blur myself but it does seem to happen when the merge happens?

The layer is in normal blend mode and inner shadow is on multiply.

Any ideas?

try different blend modes It is really hard to see what you have out here. or Noise Distribution %
