Making photo look like 3D Rendering

Postby Sugo on Sat Nov 14, 2009 8:55 pm

Hey all,

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I am looking to make some photos look like they are 3D renderings. Does anyone have any tips or tutorials on how to do that?

Help is much appreciated.

Best,
Susanna

hi,
could you be alittle more precise? or a example.... because generally as far as photoshop is concern 3d generally applies to text... or sort of give perspective to a image.... or using out of bounds type techniques

Doing something like that starts before the pic is ever snapped. 3D rendering involves HDRI- High Dynamic Range Imaging. In photography, it's known simply as HDR photography.

Do a Google search for HDR photography, and you'll be starting down the right track.

To give you an example of what I mean, look at the following two images. The first is an HDR image. The second is one image that was used to create the HDR image. Notice the difference in detail. That's going to be the key to making your image look like a 3D rendering.

Hope this helps,

Hi,
Thank for your replies.

I don't think I was clear. I need to make my existing photograph look like it was modeled in 3D max or another 3D program. I am not sure of the correct terminology, but I need it to look somewhat like the avatars from Second Life.

I hope that makes more sense.

Thank you.

hi ,
I am having a hard time visualizing what you really need...
it will help a lot if you could provide the image of what you want to change and a example
of what your trying to achieve.....!!

it may involved just changing the perspective of certain elements of image,
or adding shadows or maybe using out of bound effect technique...
