BOOKS ON PHOTOSHOP 3

Postby S_N_A_R_K on Fri Jun 17, 2005 12:47 pm

Hey!

I haven't used PhotoShop since version 3. I have CS now but have all these books on version 3. Do these help me at all? I have the PhotoShop Bible, Inside Adobe Photoshop and The Essential PhotoShop (all for version 3). How un-usable are these books for info and tutorials on CS? What book(s) would you recommend for CS?

Thanks!

~S.~

I have no clue about books, but we have many tutorials here in the forum Photoshop Forum > Tutorials.

You can also find many tutorials on this site: www.photoshop-tutorials.biz

You can read some of the basic tutorials to catch up some hotkeys and stuff.

And welcome to DEVPPL , snark.

I dont think the Photoshop 3 books will help you at all mate. I'm not even sure the concept of layers are there in version 3.

I would either suggest you buy a brand new bible or like webmaster suggested follow the tutorials and learn from there. The choice is yours.

www.good-tutorials.com - not a book, but still one of the best PS knowledge libraries out there.

Hey!

Thanks to all for the info.

Are there any similarities between Paint Shop Pro and PhotoShop? I have CS and am using that, but Paint Shop Pro came loaded on my computer and I was just curious what it was.

Thanks,

~S.~

Many people think that both are good, sometimes equally good, sometimes ppl prefer PS and vice versa. I'm used to PS, and I think that PSP (Paint Shop Pro) looks complicated... >.<

Thanks, Mesko,

Does Paint Shop Pro recognize the .psd file extension?

Yes, it does. However, it can only show the .psd, not modify it (with layers, blending modes and stuff). I know practically NOTHING about PSP, so don't trust me. :D

I know even less. I've been mostly working 3D for the past decade and am moving back into 2D. Do you know if the two prgrams can talk to each other? Can PhotoShop convert its files to PSP and can Paint Shop Pro convert its files to PSD? Even though I use CS, my network includes Paint Shop Pro users and I wonder how easy it will be to move files between us.

Thanks,

~S.~
