Please help with a special photo edit

Postby paully on Sat Jan 16, 2010 11:36 pm

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read my request
recently my nan past away (2 days ago) and I'm in need of a photo to use as a display photo at her funeral but the only one i can find has her with really bad redness around the eyes, is there anyone out there that can edit the pic so the redness isn't so visible but making the photo still look like her,
she was 98 so she lived a full life but i don't want the last photo people see of her to be like this because she wasn't like this normally i think she had a cold on the day the pic was taken.
The only thing is the photo is needed on Monday morning witch will be the 18/1/2010 to be taken to the crematorium so the details can be finalised,
i no its not long but i would be very grateful if anyone could possibly help me out.

I will even donate some money to a good cause, lets say the Haiti earthquake appeal if anyone can help.

Thank you very much

Im done...where would you like it sent?

They only let you upload 256k max on the file size here...but I have the full image that I pulled from your link ready to go. It will give you a better quality when you have it printed for the...thing.

God bless. Any other changes, you let me know.

Seems we all love sweet elderly ladies. :D
Here's another fix where I've added a gradient background (plus a little softening filter)

Almost forgot, here's the link to the full sized image (zipped)

Looks like you guys did a good job. The only thing I would suggest is to mask out the shirt when you apply whatever curve / level / huesaturation alterations you did because there is some specular highlighting issues going on in the sweater. If you compare to the original image there's a lot more detail. Just something to look for in the future and be aware of.

Yeah, I noticed that too and went back to make a quick levels adjustment. Hey, what do you want for 5 minutes of my life....geez. Covert pea...good jub with the background. I was thinking to do what she asked...you took the time to put in the extra touch. Well done. Nan would be proud.

first and foremost i would like to say a big thank you for taking the time to edit my photo.

@ daemonzul you have done exactly what was asked and more and i thank you for that.

@ CovertPea Nice idea with taking the background out but the only thing i would say is that the photo looks like its been worked over to much but i do appreciate your help so i thank you for that also.

i am more then pleased with the results and have sent a donation to the Haiti earthquake appeal to show my gratitude,
if anyone else wants to give it a go you can send them to me on my email address paulokeefe@ymail.com

Thank you all very much your help has been greatly appreciated.

very true. It was a valid point though...could have easily taken the minute to mask the adjustment layer. Thats what happens when your zoomed in at 1000%...lol You forget about the rest of the image.
