Need some advice and help

Postby chan267 on Thu Feb 04, 2010 8:45 pm

Hello

I have tried various ways of putting the objects into the grass background shown below but I am failing at it. Can anyone point me in the right direction on exactly how to do this and make it realistic? I have tried tutorials but cannot get the effect that I want.

any help will be great help to me

I suggest setting your chair layer mode as hard light

hi,
sometimes seeing one of projects you didn't like, in the critique
process it easier to point what can be done to make things better.

now this is just a couple of thoughts....
now besides what idad mentioned...
1. to me those chairs would not be on top of the grasss! they would
actually sit mayb 1 or 1.5" into the grasss!! to help simulate that
maybe use a white layer mask and paint black to where you don't see the
absolute bottom of the chairs...

2. another thing i always have a issue with is after i paste an item in
in, the edges look too sharp! what i sometimes do is at a very low setting
i'll just do a litttttle bluring on the edge of the object.. just a hint.

3. now in the chair picture they have strong shadows....... when yo select
the chairs leave out the shadows and in your main image put in your own shadows
if you notice in the park picture the shadows looks like there very faint ..

4. definitely take note, in the park picture, the light directions and shadows direction!! ....

well those are my thoughts

thanks everyone for the advice so far. I really want to do this but struggling once extract the chairs to the background of the trees. Thanks for the attempts and would love to see more of them to give me a rough idea what to aim for when I do it myself. Please help as I need to have this done by next week at the latest

hi,
been playing around with this and when i got something half way decent i'll post...

in the meantime...

a couple of things...
1. the way i had the chair position 2 was in sun and 2 under tree...
the two in the sun i selected those and used curve (you can also use the brightness and contrast) to lighten them a little make more realistic, now the two under the tree again select them and used the curve (you can use the brighent and contrast) to darken...

2. now the bottom of the chairs.... that was a problem because it needs to be address if it not then it doesn't look right.... unfortunately i didn't have the right kind of brush to do what i wanted.... and a couple of other things i tried didn't work... so what i did... was select a then area of grass near the chair and did a copy and paste... then i just carefully moved and rotate the selection t where it just barely covers the bottom of the chair... and repeated process on the other chairs.... that help a lot ....

3. using the burn tool to add light shading under and around the chair... not too much... helpt a lot to give the perceptio there part of the image....
