Sometimes that thing can be a REAL pain in the ass. Maybe that is because I dont know how to shut it off. I want to place a circular object between two other objects but its keeps getting attached to the closeby objects. Any body knows how to shut it off or what I can do?

Zooming in may help a bit. The grid seems to get smaller that way, so you can move it around a smaller grid.

Photoshop 7: Go to the View menu, and turn off the Snap option. This should work I guess.

I think you moved to CS2, so not sure if the option moved somewhere else in that version.
