No anchor links are good. You should try and make your anchor links match your keywords this helps. Also put them in an H1 or H2 tag as well this is something that google and yahoo all like.

Page rank does not definitely determine where you are on Google. If you look at my site http://www.snscasinotours.com it has a page rank of 3 but it is Number 3 on pg 1 if you Google many of the keywords. Also just to ad to this there are many factors to getting you on page on and internal links is only one of them and not necessarily the most important. The time you site has been active, your content, word density these are all factors as well that are more important then internal links

Links are considered either "external" or "internal" depending on perspective. Generally, a link to a page outside the same domain is considered external, whereas one in the same domain is considered internal.

However, these definitions become clouded when the same organization operates multiple domains functioning as a single web experience, e.g. when a secure commerce steroids website is used for purchasing things displayed on a non-secure website.

Similarly, a blogging website might have thousands of different blogs, in which context one might view a link as "internal" only if it linked within the same blog, not to other blogs within the same domain...

Internal links are okay as long as they are natural and not set up to manipulate search engine rankings. The search engines are able to differentiate between internal and external links.
