HELP! - remote control of robot

HELP! - remote control of robot

Postby Kali on Tue Jan 25, 2005 9:58 pm

hello ppl,

I need some serious guidance to achieve remote control of a robot.
This is a project that needs to be completed in Java.
Can anyone suggest an architecture, tools and technologies that can achieve this. (remember: Java only)
All i know is that I can use RMI and set up a port interface to a PIC microcontrolled robot.
But this will not achieve real-time control will it?
How can I achieve this? Are there any suggestions for alternative methods? I have to use Java (this is a requirement) and no other languages will do.
Please offer some guidance by pointing me in the right direction (suggesting topics, tools or areas which I can research more into).
Please reply with ideas asap!

I think you have to retrieve all the information about how that robot can be controlled!!!! The interface, the protocol and so on...
