when you put the black bit in at the bottom it turned out grey have no idea why.

Take a look at the opacity or fill settings. They might be below 100%.

Ah right, you showed us the site. But, how the heck does a server get hacked, and why ffs? It's not like it's worth to get hacked... like MS.com.... ^_^
I prefer the term cracked for something like this though...
