Well, if you have uninstalled all the applications from your computer already, then why not do a full computer format and get a fresh copy of your OS?

okay... well i work at a computer store, and you can buy a 80gb external HD for 40 USD now. Go buy one, back up your files, and system restore.

I dont think the chances of finding the problem is big. Like overmeer it can be pretty much anything that has gone pucht.

Reply to Phate: Yea... I know that harddisks dont cost mutch, i dont work, so all i own is 50NOK that's about 6 or 7 USD... so i cant aford it...

Reply to Kotik: I know the problem is hard do find, but i hadd the same problem on a computer at school two wears ago... and it's just to format, and the problem wil be solved... i am just wondering what may cause the problem... (and maybe a solution to it...)

Appearantly it could very well be a (known) wavelab problem, try this:

[Start] -> [Run], type "regedit", open registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Doubleclick entry "Upperfilters"
A new window showing values opens. If ASAPI is still installed one of the values is "ASAPI".
If after deinstallation ASAPI and the Upperfilter value is still listed, delete the Upperfilter value manually.

Additional information can be found in the Microsoft knowledge base:
