I have an image which I am trying to add a border too. the border is an image i found online. I put the image of the border of the image in a second channel of the origional image, set it to black, and 100% opacity. everything looks fine and everything, but when i go to save tie image, it looks the same as the origional, without the new channel with the border. I have tried saving the picture in multiple formats, but nothing has worked.
I did recently just ge photoshop and this is the first time i have really done anything with it so I am a complete newbie. before i got photoshop I used photodeluxe.
how can i get my image to save with the new channel, or is there a different was i should go about adding the border to my image? thanks!

Make sure that the layer with the image of the border is in the top of the layer palette.

i don't have it in a seperate layer, i have it in a seperate channel. when i tried putting it as a layer, i couldn't get it to look right without something looking washed out.
I got it saved, but I cheated. I did a print screen, and then croped it to only my picture. it may not be the best way to do it but it worked. it was my first attemp with photoshop, and I got the image dont in probably a half an hour, but I tried figuruing out why it wouldn't save for like 4 hours and i finally gave up.
anyways, can i post my image in this forum so that maybe someone would have a better idea why it wasn't saving, and perhaps i could get opinions on wheather it turned out good or not?

Yes go ahead
I dont think you supposed to use channels for actualy editing images.
Youhave to use layers instead

yea thats what i figured, but then how can i get the border to show arround the image properly. it's a blackish border, with a white inside, and when i put it over the image, i either ca't see the image, or i can see the image and border faded, or i can't the the border, depending on the opacity.

Okay, maybe I got confused along the way. You have one image (the guy in that picture) and another of the grunge frame around him, right?
