problem with layers - 1st post please help!

Postby monoman on Tue May 22, 2007 4:11 pm

in photoshop, I'm trying to create curved lines that are not a constant thickness as opposed to just using the pen tool and selecting a thickness.

this is how I want to do it:

-first create background
-next select pen tool (thickness 1, and 'create on new vector') draw curve and apply
-next repeat that for a second curve, but uncheck 'create on new vector'
-this is because I want them on the same layer, so that I can flood fill the space between them.

this is my problem:

when I place the starting node for the second curve, it always creates a new raster layer for the curve, meaning I can't then flood fill between the two curves because they are on different layers.

How can I make sure they are on the same layer?

The way that i do what you are doing is to create a path, then stroke it and check the box 'simulate pressure' when the stroke dialoge comes up.

As far as getting them on the same layer. When you use stroke paths, they are just applied to whatever layer you have selected, so stroking two different paths will leave them on the same layer. If you do somehow get two layers, you can always just merge those two layers though.

Hope that helps.
