Rectangle tool

Postby stevo292 on Sat Oct 17, 2009 2:52 pm

hi everyone,

I am having a little bit of trouble with the rectangle tool. When I draw a rectangle I get this nice rectangle of one pixel with no effects. Then I click on a other layer and then the rectangle I drew just disappears I need to re click the layer for it to reappear. The only when for it to stay visible is to put a stroke around the rectangle. Is their anyway for the rectangle to just stay visible without putting in new effects?

Thanks

hi,
first when addressing a software issue always good to mention what version you have... remedies can be different between versions...

now i have been trying to duplicate your problem but haven't yet....
it could be setting change...

but i am thinking maybe you have inadvertantly hidden the selction....
try ctrl+h see if it reappears that combintion will make dissapear or re appear...

another thing to look at is under the view menu>show menu ... makes sure selection is check marked...

this article is on elements but most of it applicable for photoshop

What are your settings in the toolbar for the Rectange Tool? And are you talking about the Rectangle Marquee Tool, or the Rectangle Shape Tool?

See if your settings are like mine below.
