How about only adding or taking away rep once a day?
That would stop people abusing the reputation system to an extent!
I know some other forums that do this and its a really good way of showing whos useful and whos not!

I thihk that it's better to add one rep per topic where user helped, and one user can help in more than one topic per day.

I've though of using a "correct answer" instead. When you ask something, then get an answer that you think is good, the thread-starter can mark "Correct Answer" to the post that helped him/her. That will also help people searching for the same problem to see which solution that's the correct one.

All users will then get 1 point / correct answer or something, that will be displayed in their profile.

You're brilliant...that's a unique one...and of coz,,practical!...
When a guest or other members might visit the thread,,,they might doubt if the answer is correct..and the Correct Answer/ Helpful Answer feature will give justice

The only problem with it, will be all the one-time posters, that only joins, post a thread and then leaves. The users that actually makes the correct answer will not get the point for it. So moderators should also be able to give "correct answer"-points. So we will need more moderators when the new version is up, but I don't think that's gonna be any problem, it will take a while until the new version of DEVPPL is up and running, so we should probably have many more member then today then. :)

Probability would be 1/10. If the Correct feature is as visible as the sun, then even blind members would tick that feature if he consider it as correct

Of course, the moderator should have all the rights.
...more members?!...well, having more members is not a problem,,, the problem is how would we keep members to constantly come.

One thing I believe is to provide them the accurate and best answers as we could :)
