Request for Help & Advice

Postby farmerjeffe on Wed May 30, 2007 4:10 pm

I am completely stuck on my design for a new heaeder for my website. I am requestng for everyones experience, skill and creative because i have none at the moment!

The part i am designing (In Photoshop CS3 Extended) is the header with a gap for the navigation...

the image is situated at:

http://www.underoathfans.net/picidea.html

I'm slicing it (I know alot of people don't like sliced sites) and a drop down text nav bar is going at the bottom of the picture. I need something around the black spaces and maybe some more stuff but i have a mind block now!

the nav bar is at:

http://www.underoathfans.net/delete/edi ... site2.html

with an old idea.

Any help would be muchhhh appreciated. Thanks.

I don't understand what you want help with. It looks fine. If you want design ideas, surf the web for website designs you like and try to copy them. That's what I do.

I like the layout. Simple yet eye catching. The band sticks out from the background (nice halo effect). The only thing i might change is to take the bg photo and make it go down a little further (putting a black 'glow' around the band name if necessary to make it stick out more) so that it is easier to tell that it is the band in the background (all i see is some red hair, and a guy whalin on the drums).

Good and clean though...

Yeh the only problem is im stuck with that though :( From lack of consideration and care the front band image and the gradient are all one layer with an outer glow, hence the black gradient having a glow too. So i cant do anything unless i bring the whole band and gradient down.

I have added to it now...

Bad booboo, always keep your layers separate unless you absolutely have to merge them. May create big files, but you can always change stuff around later.

As far as the addition (line under band name, right?) I'd bump up the opacity on that a little, and reduce the texture on it. My $.02

Yeh that was a good idea! Opacity UP. Texture... uneditable. Im awful like that!

But at the moment i have moved the black gradient and main band image and logo all down a bit and am currently finding a better backgroun picture... If anyones interested ill post when i think im done!

P.S. "My $.02" ... ?? haha

Constructive criticism is alllways appreciated :)

Oh and does anyone use Sitegrinder at all for CS3. Wondering if its worth purchasing or not. As i have CS3 bundle, but resorting to having photoshop and imageready cs2 ADDITIONALLY for what i do!

Thanks again!
