RNG issue

RNG issue

Postby swifty on Wed Jun 06, 2007 6:49 am

I want to know more how this RNG (random number generator) works in the gambling sites.
Do they just let it run once they set it up? who tests it to see that its really random?
I also heard they can intervene at any time and set it to reward (or punish) any player they like, and it can't be detected

Ya some guy I played with at rummyroyal.com told me than, but it doesn't really matter to me because I play with play chips.
A couple times I bet a few real chips but I never take it too far with that site.

I heard that there are some manufacturers od special software for gambling sites, and those manufacturers guarentee that software really generates random combinations. These programs are expensive, so not all the sites use them.
I think you can find more information on google.

Typical conspirecy theory.
If you only had a clue as to how much the casinos spend on some external lawyer to give them a document that proves the cards are random.
Of course some sites are not to be trusted, but as long as you go to the biggest places you should be safe (or as safe as in a real casino).

Random Number Generators are never really 'random'. There are some algorithms that are very good but you can never know what they use.

Apart from that, casino's are there to make money. The odds and games are mathematically designed so that on average the casino wins. (also with real casino's) That's how they make a living. The money you put in is used to pay the wages of the staff, the building etc. and the pay out for the lucky winners. The interesting thing is...you could be a lucky winner :)

p.s. I'm not saying that casino's are cheating, but say there was a certain type of card game that has the odds in favour of the player...you would probably not find that in a casino, they'd prefer a game which has the odds (on average, say over 1000 played games) in favour of the casino. It's just statistics.
