Ever since the Mac mini was first released, people have been using Apple’s diminutive Mac desktop as a server. At 6.5 inches square and 2 inches high, it bears just the sort of compact computing power you want to stick in a closet or under a desk and use as an all-purpose receptacle for all your stuff.

interesting...i hope no IE flame-throwers come in with some other reports that show how bad IE is.

i still use IE for most browsing but firefox and chrome are always installed and used a couple times a day.

im not a mac user but as soon as magic mouse drivers are hacked for pc usage i'm buying one.

I tried the beta and hated it, none of the other themes work on it yet and it looks so ugly lol. I'm still going to download it tomorrow to help them break the world record though :).

I know it's a bit late but better late than never... right?

Just surfing and found the Vista blog post about Windows 7. Seems they are going to keep the code name Windows 7 as the official release name. They say that as they don't release a new OS each year the whole date thing, 95, 98 etc don't make sense and coming up with 'an all-new "aspirational" name does not do justice to what we are trying to achieve'

Due to the nature of swf files, searches will not be able to pin point to the exact frame in the swf file. To achieve this they will have to release another version of Flash or to set up rules (w3.org) for building swf files, otherwise the designers will not know how to optimize swf files.

Photoshop CS4 x64 - comming this way!

[url=http://www.adobe.com[/url]Adobe[/url] has announced that the next version of Photoshop (CS4) will support 64bit architecture. Apperently, the most speed boost will be given to users working with large images and has a lot of RAM memory (over 32 GB). For users with 4 GB RAM, the speed increase should according to Adobe be 8%-12%.

Another interesting thing with this... but first some history:
The first version of Photoshop was released in 1988 and only for Mac users.
The Windows users could not enjoy playing with Photoshop until 1992 when version 2.5 was released. Ever since then, the PC and the Mac version has been released at the same time.

The interesting thing then:
The 64bit-edition will only be available for Windows users, the Mac users will have to use the 32bit version of CS4.

Adobe haven't announced any release date yet, but according to the release dates of the old versions, a good guess would be in the first half of 2009.

iPod Touch & iPhone upgrade.

Apple has now released the iPod touch in a new 32GB model. So is now available in 8GB, 16GB and 32 GB models. The iPhone has had an upgrade to 16GB so is now available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB models. So more music, movies and fun. Also the iPod touch has gotten some new apps including, mail, weather and maps previously only available on the iphone without jailbreaking.

This week W3C released the first public working draft of the HTML 5 specification, with hte final specification expected by 2010.

When the new specification is completed it will be the first major revision to the HTML specification sinc 1999.

According to W3C, the HTML 5 effort now includes nearly 500 participants, including representatives from Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Mozilla and Opera.

"HTML is of course a very important standard," said Tim Berners-Lee, author of the first version of HTML and W3C Director in a statement. "I am glad to see that the community of developers, including browser vendors, is working together to create the best possible path for the Web. To integrate the input of so many people is hard work, as is the challenge of balancing stability with innovation, pragmatism with idealism."

While the working draft will be important to the development of HTML 5, there are other things that still need to be done for HTML 5 to work.

Acer buys Gateway

Both parties have agreed on the deal. Acer will be buying Gateway. The papers and transactions should be complete by around December 2007.

"Acer Inc. (TWSE:2353), one of the world's leading branded PC vendors, announced today it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW). Gateway is the fourth largest PC company in the US and a leading retail PC provider.
