Saving with clear background

Postby mandg on Sat Jul 08, 2006 7:49 pm

I can't seem to save my photo with a clear background to jpg, bmp, gif, etc format. For some reason the image gets saved with the background turning back to white.

TIA for any guidance.

jpg and bmp do no support transparency

gif however does

have you made sure you deleted the bg layer?

another option would be PNG this supports transparency very well however doesnt work properly in IE :(

Ah, gotcha. But now here's the catch. The file was trimmed using the oval tool and then I applied a gausion blur around the borders. WHen I saved it as .gif the gausion blur was lost and the only 'hard' border is displayed.

Any ideas how to retain the gausion blur effect?

You need to adjust the alpha transparency
Web-Developing since '03

.gif doesnt support transparency levels.
A pixel is just transparency or not.
.PNG does support transparency levels.
So you can set the level ( in % ) of the transparency.
but png isn't good supported in IE.

maybe you can find the PNG+IE solution here:
