Re: Making photo look like 3D Rendering

Doing something like that starts before the pic is ever snapped. 3D rendering involves HDRI- High Dynamic Range Imaging. In photography, it's known simply as HDR photography. Do a Google search for HDR photography, and you'll be starting down the right track. To give you an example of what I mean, l...

Re: Layer mask channel ???

Every time you create a layer mask in Photoshop, it adds a copy of the mask as a new channel. If you switch to the channel palette, you should see a channel called (layer name) mask. I assume that this is what the plug-in is looking for.

Re: Hdr Image Edit

This almost sounds like a color management problem. Are you using a profiled monitor? Either way, doing a new profile would be my first suggestion. If you plan on doing a lot of HDR work, I suggest looking into a software package called "Photomatix". It's easy to use, and gives you a lot m...

Re: How to design a big print?

I agree that if you do this on a regular basis (or plan to) that more RAM may be worth investing in. However, here are a few specific suggestions: 1) discuss with this 'someone' the need for a full resolution poster-size image. The farther away a viewer is from an image, the less resolution is neede...

Re: First Post, need layer help

Right-click on the top layer, and select "create clipping mask" from the options. The effects will be confined ("clipped") to the layer directly beneath it.

Re: Opening RAW images

Yep, definitely time to look at an upgrade. PS5.5 has no capacity for Raw images at all (Photoshop CS is a full 3 version beyond what you have now.). I suggest looking into either Photoshop Elements (the current version is 7) or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom2. You can download a free trial of Elements 7...

Re: Opening RAW images

And it may still be that none of that works. Adobe has to update the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in from time to time to accommodate newer camera models. It may well be that the ACR plug-in you're using is too outdated for your camera- especially if you're using an older version of Photoshop. You ca...

Re: Help request!

Nope, she didn't. Lining the two files up in "difference" mode indicates they're identical, pixel for pixel, except the part that's been cropped off the top. Good job Tiff.

Re: Seam carving

Yeah, all the work I've done with this has been completely OUTSIDE Photoshop. To be honest, I find the plug-ins as lackluster as the online editors. I'm becoming convinced that this is a good solution for the problem of flexible images in document formats (what the project was initially about), but ...

Re: New to photoshop..help!

The best way to go about this is to post the pictures. What you're asking is kind of like asking an auto mechanic how to change a transmission. There are so many variables involved that it would be hard to give a specific answer. You may need to adjust the size of the images. The best way to separat...

Re: Retouch tips for up-res and sharpening SD vid stills needed

Well, you're using the right software anyway (IMO).

What, specifically, are the pixel dimensions before and after resizing?

If you could send me a sample image (after resize), it would help.

Re: Circle of photos ??

Is there parallax (distortion) in the photos? If so, do you have the capability to reshoot the scene? It is possible to photograph this in a way that produces no distortion, but it requires a little setup. Obviously, it's best to get things right in the camera, rather than trying to 'fix' them later...

Re: Understanding Bridge!

The file size in Bridge is the actual physical size that the file takes up on your hard drive. I find only small variances in the size reported by Bridge, and the size reported by my OS. Basically, the differences can be attributed to rounding. In Photoshop, it depends on where you're read the file ...
