I don't see a question.

Any system which can run streaming software which doesn't need the admin/root to install it is extremely lacking in OS security.

I don't know any software for streaming other than, ComproTV in windows, and I believe kaffiene in Linux.

It sounds like you've gone wrong somewhere along the installation process, look around the net for tutorials their everywhere, and install it manually that way you would have a better understanding of whats going wrong. Maybe your firewall on the mac is blocking access.

Maybe someone has been on the router and checked the box which then only allows computer which have been added manually to it.

Has anyone tried Slackware 13 yet??
