Settings for Canon EOS 450, Adobe Camera RAW, PS CS 5 and pr

Postby avz10 on Fri Apr 29, 2011 8:10 pm

I have a Canon CS EOS 450, have used PS CS5 in the past. I have now been made aware of Camera RAW and have started using it. My problem is that the images varies when I open the photos in different programs. My laptop is a HP Probook, 64 bit, Windows 7, etc.

So, my question is about settings on the different devices; Camera and programs:

1. I shoot in RAW, so I believe no change in camera settings.

2. Adobe CR- I use white balance, contrast, clarity, and vibrance. Any programme changes on ACR programme necessary (ie colour, etc in the programme to match with my screen?))

3. Biggest difference between moving from ACR to PS CS5- usually a big difference between these two (colour; sharpness)

4. And what would be the best proramme to use the photos that will look as close to what I will get if I print these in photos?

hi,
I can't answer all the questions but maybe i can provide someinsite info...

a. i don't have cs5... but when doing some research i came across that there migh a camera calibration feature in raw..... since it was mentioned there was one in cs3... .. so maybe that will elp...

b. now have you done a monitor calibrations? this can be important... now photoshop does have that gamma loader which that what it does is monitor calibration for photoshop... but you may need to do a overal monitor calibrations...
also thhis will effect your printing for example... if monitor is tend to be on the dark side... you do your editing adjustments and such,,, when printed you may find the image is a little lighter than desired...

c. as far as different programs... and this important not just for using other programs, the net, but also for printing.... and that is, in photoshop, check your workspace and see if you have sRGB selected for your workspace ..... there other type of rgb but the sRGB appears to be most compatible over a wide range of things..

d. if real critical on the printing... then you may need to see if you need a special printer profile for the paper your using.... most of the time the default is fine for most people but sometimes that may not be good enough...

well anyway those are my thoughts..... hopefully others more experienced than me will jump in and provide addition info
