Postby ronnieoverby on Sat May 26, 2007 4:04 pm

New web designer here. I am designing a site for a customer and I feel my layout is just missing something. So I thought I would see what some seasoned PS users would say. check it out:

crits:
- I dont like how all of the peoples heads are cut off in the header image - it makes me keeps trying to scroll up to see the rest of the image.

- i would integrate the menu better into the page, instead of just a beveled grey box

I'm sure others will chime in.

cutting the heads off was deliberate to try to keep focus on the products instead of the models.

better integration of the nav was exactly what I am looking for but I cant find a tutorial or anything that sparks any ideas on what to do.

I've got some C&C for you

+ The color scheme just screams power sports, so stick to that!

- The header image is too busy. There are 4 images incorporated into one. You should try sticking to one, maybe two images and make a nice collage of those, or extract those from the original image to use them.

- The buttons are not too nice. They're too large, especially if you center the website like that. I'm only able to run at 1024x768 because I use a company laptop, which limits my viewing. But remember that I am not the only one with constraints!

- Buttons again. Get rid of them, is my opinion. Buttons are passé. They're like, sooooo 2005 ;) If you get rid of them, try using text for linkage.

- The logo could use some more work.

- The blue text on a black background irritates after a few minutes.

You can (and should) use css for the mouseover effect on the menu. Booo javascript.

I actually have just switched from table layout to css layout. how do you do css rollovers? or are you talking about just change the background color behind a transparent image?
