the automatic "blurring" or "anti-alias"

Postby Gaston on Sat Jun 16, 2007 1:07 am

I was wondering about a thing or two. I am making something in Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0. The image I am making from scratch (almost literarrely pixel by pixel) is a black and white image. The ONLY tones that should be there are 0,0,0 and 255,255,255.

Now this presents a problem for me. Photoshop is a great tool for what I am making with the exception that once I use any of the very usefull tools of Photoshop they usually find out: "Hey, it's all black and white, and looks unnatural, I'll help the fella and add in greytones overall". This makes me very mad since I need to have everything completely black or white, otherwise the image is ruined. I've found my way around a few tools. A few have "anti-alias" which I can deselect, and they'll function how I want them, but a bunch dosen't. For example the "eraser tool" didn't have that, and to get it to do the desired function, I had to select from a drop down menu for it to be "block".

I am still having problems with quite a few functions, actually probably too many to list here, so I'm asking here in despair, is there any way to turn off the whole "transform to shades of grays" and "add shades of gray" off in photoshop, instead of doing it on an individual basis for each and every function? Please tell me there is!

Regards, Gaston.

Photoshop is more designed for photos (as the name suggests) - therefore it trys to make everything work in that medium and tends to neglect this sort of thing a bit.

I think your best way around this is to change the document colour mode grayscale, this will then let you change the colour mode to bitmap - allowing only black and white to be used in the document.
