The first of many posts! Colour management !

Postby Flappers on Mon Jul 24, 2006 12:19 pm

Hello everyone. I am a little experienced but still very much a novice. I have P-S CS2. 1, with the raw plug in for my Nikon D50 and the Epson 4 colour R240. I am printing on Epson premium Gloss & Kodak premium satin. My inks although not genuine Epson, are I'm told, the same ink but different cartridge. I have looked at several tutorials from various sites (Epson Australia, Ian Lyons, Adobe....) and after applying there guides I am simply not getting the quality I need. The image I see on my monitor (Dell dimension series) is a mile away from the print. The way I got around the problem -had a deadline- was to decrease cyan & yellow to try to eliminate the green cast. I got them to far from respectable but (I'm hoping!) good enough for the lay man, but am still struggling. If I use Ian Lyons tutorial on colour management in printing allowing P-Shop to determine colour, I follow it to a tee and the prints are very dark. I think I've calibrated my monitor correctly, and after setting 'Proof Setup' up I see no difference in the two (Ctrl Y). I am deeply frustrated and more than a little worried about delivering these 170 5 by 7s this afternoon ! If any of you guys can point me in the right direction I'll buy you a new house ! Thanks for your help.

Dunno, much about it, but are you using cmyk for prints?
thats should make sure your pic onscreen is the same thats printed.

I worked at a printing house at one time and you ALWAYS use CMYK colors when printing there. RGB is pretty much only for stuff you have on screen.
