time in XAMPP

hi guys..i just wanna ask about time in xampp server that i've installed in my computer..i'm from malaysia and use the GMT +8. when i used the function $now=date("H:i:s"); the time displayed was not the same as my computer's time, instead of late 8 hours . how come this prob occured? plz help me solve this prob..thanx 4 ur help..
