tip: content aware fill

Postby jerryb on Tue Dec 20, 2011 12:49 am

hi,

Ever had the problem where when you do the content aware fill that you end up with other objects that you didn't want in the fill....?

this evening i was working on a image with a dirt path in the forrest and i wanted to change the dirt to grass... but when i i did the routine of content aware i got the grass but i got parts of trees also....

the picture at this link shows what i mean..
http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?pictu ... gimjv2aOA0
the first image is of the road to be filled in
2nd image where i did a fill but parts of trees was involved i didn't want smiling
3rd image where i used a tip to keep that from happening

to prevent unwanted areas from being looked when you do the content aware fill.... ....
1. i did a loose selection of the tree and then applied a mask and inverted the mask..
2. the tree is mask out... and i'll have that checkerboard pattern where the tree was..
3. then you activate the image, which will at the same deactivate the mask ...
note: want to work on the image and not mask that why you this....
3. then do my selection of the road and click fill/content aware.. and it filled in the road nicely without the parts of trees smiling...
4. at this point you can either disable the mask to delete the mask... and voila you what you see in the 3rd image

hi,
thank you....

now another one i learned..... and that is on telephone lines or wires, powerlines, thing like that that can interfer with a image..

1. use the pen tool and trace the lines to get a path ...
2. then go to the spot healing brush
3. adjust diameter and make sure at the top , the content aware is checked
4 then just hit the return key ...

and voila there gone...

the only problem i have is if there curves in the lines i am not very good with the pen tool amking curves...lol
