Transparency Problems

Postby mr.johnny on Tue May 15, 2007 3:43 pm

I am having a very frustrating issue with transparency. I am working with a vector on a transparent background. I export it as a GIF, and then I put it in a floating div over other images, it gets distorted with white pixels all over the place.

Here is the original image:

When I put it in a floating div above a webpage, it does this:

Even if I make a brand new image in photoshop on transparent, just put a basic circle and save it as a gif, that happens. Help!

Thanks in advance :)

i wouldn't save as gif at all, cause gif has just a few colors.
but in this case you can.
but you have to render the image better, so delete the white pixels
best way to do this is place the image on a 50% grey bg.
then you can see the white pixels but also the black ones, so you won't delete them.
best way to render is using the pen tool, in this case i think
just draw a line on the black border and after you gone round the whole pic, make a selection, invert the selection and press delete.

Hi
Use File>Save for Web and set the Matte to your background colour. This will remove the white anti-aliasing pixels. It won't help where the image is against the white background, so you may need two images.
