How to open local system sharefile using getURL in all browe

hi Guys,
i am new to this forum. i am having a doublet on opening a local folder. i try this
getURL("file:\\\\\\\\c:\sharefolder");
where sharefolder is in c:\ and the folder is shared.
but it not opening in firefox and google chrome

can you help me pls
