Linux(Ubuntu) and AMD

Postby mravioli on Thu Aug 16, 2007 9:06 am

about a week ago i decided to install Ubuntu through the Wubi installer http://wubi-installer.org/. I got to the part where I must restart my computer and even after 7 hours of waiting i never got past the Windows XP Shutdown Screen. It installed fine on my Intel laptop, but not my AMD desktop.

My processor is an AMD 64 3200+

Probably a bug in that wubi thing. Ubuntu is 10 times easier to install than windows, boot from CD and just follow the procedure, you don't need any third party programs to install ubuntu.

OK, but you can also install ubuntu as dual boot from it's CD. I think it caused trouble with installing, or maybe your CD was scratched/downloaded file corrupted
