Macintosh Wallpaper

1. Start off with a new document. Size doesn't really matter, I always use 1024x768. With transparent background.

2. (Optional) Go ahead and add a gradient using the gradient tool. Hold shift when you drag down to ensure a staight gradient pull.

(I went from light light black to white.)

(The following steps can be repeated as many times as desiered to accomplish the look you want)

3.Make a new layer and add a circular selection to the new layer.

4. Select the invers of the circle by pressing Ctrl+Shift+I. This allows us to work with the layer outside the circle. Marching ants should show up around your new selection.

5. Fill in the selection on the second layer and add a drop shadow to a size you see fit. Now add a motion blur, from the filter - blur- motion blur menu. Apply the blur at an angle you think is nice.

6. In order to get the pillar shape, we start by making a new layer. Draw a circle selection, so that only one part of the circle is visible; hold shift and draw another circle on the opposite side. Again, press Ctrl+Shift+I, to select the middle portion.

7. For this shape, let's do an Edit - Stroke. Make the stroke color light black (dark grey), and about 2 pixels wide. Hit ok.

This also can be given a drop shadow or even some bevel or emboss. Move this piece to whever or rotate it how you see fit, i also added some color and also another motion blur.

8.add another selection on a new layer similar to the first one ( I didn't do any blur to this one, but it's up to you).

I also copied the gradient layer from step 2, and put it over all my layers, and lowered the opacity in order to keep the color flow. You can see how it still goes from a dark to light.

9. Add some text, I chose 'Pure Graphix' and 'Windows XP Macintosh' along with the addition of an apple off the apple website.

Here is my final result:
