I'm relatively new to 3DSM and I've been working on a major project for a portfolio for some time now though I've started to have "issues" with it... It's gotten to the point that 3DSM6 slows when I want to do so little as draw a line. When I apply textures from the materials library it won't render them (rendering any textures that I have imported myself); it will go so far as to do a partial render and then, at the point at which the texture/s from the library are introduced, it freezes the render. I've been trying to reduce the strain upon 3DSM6 by attaching objects together (eg. two separate parts of what is to be one whole object) but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. Like I said, I'm quite new to 3DSM as I graduated from University not too long ago and I'm still learning about it in more detail. If it's of any help the PC I use has a 2.20 GHz Quad-Core Processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 456 GB hard disk. The file size is approximately 38 MB. Any help would be very much appreciated. I simply cannot afford to have so much work be ruined! |

Try reinstall, replace your work in some directory and reinstall it. it is quite possible that there are errors of modules, and that would solve it, you will need to spend very much time, so that the fastest and easiest way is to reinstall the software. |

Hi Kriss, It is dificult to say what your problem is, but I will have a go. I would say your computer spec. sounds sufficient to cope with most renders. Saying that max3d is a very powefull bit of software. Are you using deplacement materials, these will slow down your computer a lot? Also materials with reflection can slow thing lots. Some of my more complex images have taken 24hrs or more to do a single frame render. Are you using standard(scanline renderer) or something else like v-ray, If you use standard renderer and v-ray materials, you will have problems. Can you tell me more about the scene you are trying to render? I hope this has been of some help to you, please let me know how you get on. Tiff |
