I'm planning to buy a new gfx card. Which one is better?

Ati 9800 Pro 128 mb

or

FX 5900 128 mb

My guess is that the ATI 9800 Pro is the best of those two...

What do you look in a graphic card when you buy one? How could you tell that 9800 pro is better?

I'm looking for as much functions as possible. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 9800 Pro has a lot more options to work with than those FX's. Not that those are bad cards though...

If its for a windows machine to play games I'd go for the ati 9800. The entire FX5xxx series of cards are not really 100% DX9 compatible.

Nvidia cheats a bit and this results in some image quality loss, there has been quite some discussion about this, especially with games like far cry and HL2 in which you can see the differences quite clear.

The ati 9800 clearly has better image quality and is technologically a better product. In speed they are about equal, sometimes the ati 9800 takes the lead, sometimes the fx5900, but it's only by a small margin.

if the pick is between the ati 9800 or FX5900, I'd take the ati 9800 any day Smile

I'm looking at a 7600GT nvidia chipset in an XFX card...what do ya's think? i heard it's top of the line mainstream but i was wondering about your guys' opinions
