White/reverse logo in Illustrator

White/reverse logo in Illustrator

Postby alvyarin on Mon Dec 10, 2007 9:46 pm

First off - I know very little about Illustrator: only what I can pick up from knowing InDesign and Photoshop. So if this is a silly question I apologize!

Our company has a logo in 3 colors - black, red and grey. I need a reverse color/white logo to go on items that are black, etc. This logo has been created in Illustrator - its there, I can see it when I highlight it, but when it isn't highlighted it looks like a field of white. When I turn on the transparency grid it appears.

My problem is when I export it. I've tried exporting it to tif, pdf, and jpg (all of which I need) and so far all of them just export a big white square. Since I know it has a transparent background, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but obviously I'm missing something.

Thank you for ANY help!

Hi Alvyarin,
don't have the answer for illustrator but you can try export it as a .psd and bring it into photoshop to make your tiff file. I don't think you can have transparent areas in a jpeg, though - .gifs and .pngs support transparency.

You want to SAVE AS .ai file

Then FILE>PLACE into page layout program. (Indesign)
